Hotel Intercontinental is a big, four star hotel located in a safer, quieter neighborhood away from the port. Hotel Intercontinental has a pool and lounge with two restaurants and a bar. Great choice for the price. You’ll need a taxi to get to the port, but downtown and the medina are only a 10 minute walk.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. While it may be a little further away from the medina and port than some may prefer, it has very clean rooms with surprisingly nice bathrooms and comfortable accommodations. The area was safe and quiet – our 10 month old slept well during his naps and at night, probably at least partially due to the quietness of the area. We only ate breakfast there, but the buffet breakfast is good and includes a good selection of hot items (eggs, meat, etc.), pastries and fresh juices.
